A Sketch by a Master: Political System of Post-Soviet Russia in Sergey Peregudov’s Version

The review presents the new book by a well-known Russian scientist S.P. Peregudov [Перегудов С.П. Политическая система России в мировом контексте: институты и механизмы взаимодействия. М.: РОССПЭН, 2011. 431 с.], in which he examines the dynamics of the country’s political system. The reviewer notes the fundamental character of the investigation, its exclusive thoroughness and methodological precision. Special attention in the investigation under review is paid to the analysis of institutional transformations of the Russian state, to the role that corporativist structures, as well as practices of cooperation of the state and business play in these transformations. The author of the book, as the reviewer points out, also tackles assessment of the factors that constitute the foundation of the numerous problems and contradictions of the Russian society’s evolution.
