A King-Philosopher or a Contradictory Politician?
The article by D. Winter, professor, Michigan University, contains detailed analysis of politico-psychological particularities of US president B.Obama as compared with his predecessor G.Bush. The author points to such characteristic features of Obama-politician, as his liberal style of governance, extroversion, openness to new ideas, cognitive complicacy, high level of emotional stability, adaptability and flexibility. Besides, it is underscored that today’s American leader’s personality contains in itself a number of contradictions (persistence in the pursuit of his purpose – flexibility; yearning to look “own” to all – complicacy of cognitive constructions, etc.), that have their source in the specific character of his socialization in his teen-age and juvenile periods.
