The Real Man of Russia’s Politics? (To the Question of Gender Discourse as Power Resource)

The article takes up the problem of mutual influence of the political discourse as such and the gender discourse in modern Russian politics. How does the gender discourse become a factor of political struggle? What expression does it find in the foreign policy rhetoric? Why is the resource of nationalism actualized in the meantime? How do the political discourse and the national one, in their turn, influence the images of masculinity and femininity? The authors seek answers to these questions, demonstrating the ways in which ideas of masculinity and of femininity acquire relevancy in politics.
