Immigration Regimes in the States of the West and in Russia: the Political Theory Aspects. Part I

The author suggests introducing the concept “immigration regime” into the Russian political studies. This concept allows scholars to analyze both the policy of a state regarding immigrants’ flow (immigration policy) and at the same time the attitudes of different states and societies towards immigrants’ incorporation in national community (integration politics). He believes that the shaping of various immigration regimes is determined by the particularities of national political cultures, as well as by the specific character of the socio-economic and political situation in different countries.
