“Soft Power” in China’s Development Strategy

It is in the political report at the 17th congress of the Communist Party of China, that the thesis of “soft power” as an important constituent of the development strategy was for the first time formulated and the contents of China’s “soft power” disclosed. A new paradigm of building socialism with Chinese specific characteristics was proposed in this connection, and its analysis constitutes the principal subject of the present article.
