Value Crisis: Why Formal Democracy Does Not Work

The processes of globalization analyzed by the author, destroy democracy, substituting for it chaotic propaganda, permanent information wars of diverse intensity. These wars are being waged by most important network structures. The author points to the necessity of a sort of conservative traditionalist counter-revolution despite the fact that its prospects remain extremely unclear. In his opinion, the most developed countries of the world – for the sake of maintaining at least relative global stability – should comprehend that they have moved too far in their efforts to unify the world and that now they are obliged to step back in order to save it. It is necessary to establish explicit priority of collective security over democracy and human rights in the Western interpretation of these terms, to abandon the strategy of a new crusade for democratization and to recognize the right of every society to live according to its laws and traditions.
