Political Science in Three Democracies, Disaffected (Japan), Third Wave (Korea) and Fledgeling (China)


The article concentrates on the development of political science in three democracies of East Asia — Japan, Korea and China — for the last quarter of the 20th century. The author evaluates the impact of American political science on this process. The main emphasis is put on the nature and dynamics of political regimes in these countries and their role in defining political discourse.
