Dynamics of Political Predispositions of Russia’s Regional Elites (With Saratov Region as Example)

The author discusses changes of regional elites’ predispositions in the course of Russia’s transformation. It is the two series of interviews effectuated in Saratov Region in 1993 and 1998 respectively, that served as empirical material for this study; and two typologies figure as its theoretical basis: R.Putnam’s typology of political predispositions, and J.Higley’s typology of «elite structures». In the article, the researcher substantiates her conclusion to the effect that the change of elite generations does not lead to democratization of their political predispositions. Rather, their undemocratic predispositions are being replaced by other undemocratic predispositions.
