The End of Russian Ideology (A New Course or a New Way?)

In the article, an attempt has been made to trace connection between modern Russian politics, ideology, and culture. In the 1st part (Politics: the “Gorbachev Loop”) the author’s attention is concentrated on the contradictory political nature of the new power and on the inequipollence of its ideological pretensions. In the 2nd part (Ideology: the “Russian Waves”) it is claimed that Russian spiritual life is cyclic and comprehension of the logic of cyclic alternation allows to better determine the objective framework for modern ideological search. The 3d part (Culture: “Taste of Revolution”) deals with ideological scenarios possible in today’s Russia, including the probable emergence of a “renovation conservatism” whose necessary ideological component will be a course for cultural revolution.
