Orthodox Fundamentalism

The theme that the article offers for discussion is very topical, yet it has almost never been touched upon in modern scientific literature: ripening of fundamentalist tendencies in Russian society and their influence on Orthodox Church, on social consciousness at large. The author discloses the social roots of this phenomenon, examines its psychological and culturological aspects, reveals behind it certain attempts to solve ethical problems of modern times. The author’s main idea which he is eager to stress is that Orthodox fundamentalism is non-Orthodox; moreover, it is by its essence contrary to Christian world outlook.
