Symbolical Politics: A Constellation of Concepts for an Approach to the Problem

The author makes it his job to retrace the way political life is aestheticized to compensate lack of political information, for which purpose the asymmetry characteristic of social communication in modern world, is exploited. Basic concepts as well as main regularities of symbolical politics are considered in the article, an especial role of mass media being singled out, in the formation of political symbols. At the threshold of the 21st century - such is the conclusion - political symbolics has made a cardinal breakthrough: from reality’s model it’s been turned into model’s reality, with, as a result, alienation of broad strata of population from real politics.
